Romer Inc. is a world leader in portable CMM technology. Portable CMMs are used wherever accurate measurement is required on parts that are awkward to measure (big, not moveable, complex). Applications include propellers, weldments, machined parts on the machine tool table, mold/die cavities, prototypes, composite aerospace components, fixtures and more. The INFINITE™ models are totally wireless - so no more tripping around cables. The NEW INFINITE SC™ scanning portable CMMs are the most accurate seven axes articulating arms ROMER® has produced and feature ROMER’s patented infinite rotation, quick-change probes with automatic probe recognition and a combination hard probe / laser scanning probe assembly with patented infinite rotation that accommodates laser cameras manufactured by Perceptron, 3D Scanners, LDI and Kreon. The handle of the combination probe assembly is removable to allow operation in tight confines. All wiring necessary for third party laser scanners is internal to the arm. In addition, INFINITE CMMs incorporate the following exclusive features:

NEW integrated wireless communication (WIFI 8.02.11b) with integrated Li-ION battery for INFINITE portability (Note: Wi-Fi works with the hard probe only, not when laser scanning points.)

The 4 ft. INFINITE model has a Single Point Shere Test accuracy of 0.0002 in., a volumetric accuracy of 0.0006 in.
These arms are very light, between 11.9 lbs (5.4 kg) for the 4 ft. model to 18.7 lbs (8.5 kg) for the 12 ft. model
The INFINITE models are made with double wall carbon fiber which makes it virtually unaffected by temperature: 0 to 46ºC
Two other models include the STINGER II, and Stinger IIi(Stinger with infinite articulation)

The Stinger family of arms are typically used for their for low cost and in somewhat large tolerance applications, typically to measure weldments.
The Infinite family of arms is used for more precise applications such as machined parts where tolerances are typically +/- 0.005" or lower.
